Most first Bahamas trips stop at Nassau and the Exumas. This one treats those as a layover and heads further out - to Harbour Island's genuinely pink sand and pastel colonial village, then to Abaco's working sailing harbours and Loyalist cays. Nothing here is a quick hop: every leg connects back through Nassau, so the trade for the quieter islands is more time in transit and looser scheduling than a Nassau-Exumas dash.

Skip / overrated: The famous pink sand is brightest and least crowded early morning or at low tide on the ocean side - midday high tide on the harbour side looks like an ordinary white beach.

How is this different from doing Nassau and the Exumas?
It skips the Exumas' swimming-pig, sandbar-tour circuit entirely and stays inside the Bahamas (no Turks & Caicos add-on) for Harbour Island and the Abacos instead - a slower, village-and-flats-fishing pace rather than the classic boat-tour itinerary.
Do I have to fly back through Nassau between the Out Islands?
Yes, in almost every case - there's no direct inter-island service between Eleuthera and Abaco, so the standard routing connects through Nassau both ways. Private boat charter is the only way to skip it, and it's weather-dependent.
When should I go?
December through April: dry, breezy, and outside hurricane season. Out Island flight schedules also thin out over summer, which makes tight connections riskier.
